TRIPURA RUBBER WOOD FACTORY

Introduction

Tripura Forest Development and Plantation Corporation Limited is a Public Sector Undertaking of Government of Tripura.

 The Corporation is working for re-vegetation of degraded forestland through Rubber plantation and other forest resources to ensure development and upliftment of economically weaker sections of the society.

The Corporation, since its inception has taken up commercial Rubber Plantation and marketing of Rubber as its main business.

Presently the corporation is single largest Rubber producer in the country and owns about 11,000 ha of rubber plantation.

 

The Project

Rubber Plantation requires re-planting after 32 to 34 years when collection of latex becomes uneconomical. For commercial utilization and value addition to those rubber logs felled during re-plantation, otherwise of no timber value, TFDPC started its new venture in Processing Rubber Timber in the year 1999. The success of Timber Treatment
Unit at Anandanagar & the positive impact on forest conservation through replacing use of Forestry timber by Plantation timber inspired TFDPC to take step towards setting up of solid wood board manufacturing Unit. The factory is producing Solid Wood Boards from Treated Rubber Wood using most advanced technology and machineries imported from Taiwan, China, Germany and indigenous machines (Sandeep Industrial Corporation, Ludhiana, Ascu Arch Timber Protection Pvt. Ltd, Kolkata)


The Process

Rubber logs, cut into small sections, will first be chemically treated followed by scientific seasoning. Pieces of similar section after being sorted colour & grains and dressed in FOUR SIDE PLANNER are passed through FINGER SHAPING MACHINE followed by glue application on fingers and these timber pieces are hydraulically pressed in FINGER ASSEMBLERS to form a long length of timber. The finger Joint machine, which is the prime machine for production of world class boards is the best machine so far installed in India. Then glue is applied on timber so obtained is compressed in ROTARY COMPOSER followed by sanding in WIDE BELT SANDER and finishing produces Solid Wood Boards. The boards produced match the strength and durability of any other hard wood. These boards can be cut, shaped and curved as desired to give interior elegance, beauty and charm. The solid wood boards will be exported and shall also feed the domestic market of the country.

Investment :- Rs. 6.50 Crores (Rs. 4.41 Crores funded by NEC and rest from TFDPC’s own Resources)

The products of this factory are :-
1. SOLID RUBBER WOOD BOARDS (size 8ft x 4ft of thickness 12mm to 38mm)
2. SOLID RUBBER WOOD BEAMS (length 5m and cross section upto 100mm x 150mm)

Requirement of Raw Material :-
Rubber Logs 6,700 cum round logs per year


Production capacity :- 80 boards per day ; This factory had already started production of above products.
